SMITHS STATION, Ala. - Four University of North Georgia track and field athletes finished in first place in their events as the Nighthawks finished second in the team standings Saturday in the Adonica Ferguson Classic.
Aleah Johnson finished in first place in the 800 meter dash, edging Columbus State's Camryn Bridges by .44 seconds with a 2:21.15.
Maria Coughlin crossed the finish line first in the 10K with a 42:30.76, beating second place by over two minutes.
Abigail Kirkland finished atop the podium in the 400 meter hurdles with a 1:06.50 and
Mary Owen Howell finished first in the pole vault, clearing a height of 8 feet and 0.5 inches.
Other scoring athletes were
Sarah Whittington in the 100 meter and the long jump;
Katie Schwind and
Sarah Buckler in the 800 meter; Buckler and
Elise Glorvigen in the 1500 meter;
Kenedi Rodney,
Brynn Wilson and
Emma Brown in the 5K;
Anna Hyde in the 10K; the 4x400 relay team;
Aubrey Cagle and
Kaitlyn King in the pole vault; and
Kailyn Thomas in the shot put and the discus.
UNG will next be in action on March 22-23 at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta.
