Â
Quoting Head Coach Pat Parris:Â "Both teams are quality opponents for us to test ourselves yet again on the pitch. These matches are another opportunity for our guys to show what they can do out there, but we really need our leaders to step up to the challenge."
Â
Last Week: UNG fell to No. 9 Palm Beach Atlantic, 4-0, on the road to open the season. The match against No. 2 Lynn was cancelled due to inclement weather Sunday in Boca Raton, Florida.
Â
Scouting Tampa: The Spartans are 0-1-1, drawing West Florida, 0-0, before falling 2-1 to Spring Hill. This will be the first time this season that Tampa has played away from home. The Spartans were picked second in the Sunshine State Conference Preseason Poll, one point behind Palm Beach Atlantic.
Series Versus Tampa:Â Thursday will be the fifth meeting all-time against Tampa with the two sides each winning twice. North Georgia has won the last two meetings, each by a score of 2-1. The two teams have not played since 2015.
Â
Scouting Anderson:Â The Trojans are 1-0-0 headed into a Wednesday night matchup at No. 10 Lander before coming to Dahlonega. AU defeated Lees-McRae on the opening day of the season, 3-0.
Series Versus Anderson: The all-time series is currently tied, 4-4-1, but the Nighthawks haven't won in the series since 2012. The two sides renewed the series last year after not playing for four years with Anderson winning, 2-1, in Anderson, South Carolina.
Â
Nighthawks in Home Openers: UNG looks to win its first home opener since winning back in 2015 over Tampa by a score of 2-1.
