Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. - After finding themselves in an early 3-0 hole, the University of North Georgia women's tennis team battled back but ultimately fell to No. 15 Florida Southern, 6-3, Tuesday afternoon. The Nighthawks are now 7-3 in 2018.
Doubles play went the way of the Mocs, but UNG put up a fight.
Holly Bennett and
Vaishali Jorge fell, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles, while FSC's No. 2 doubles pair needed 14 games to down
Adrienne Bofinger and
Lexa Loden, 8-6.
Bofinger clinched the first point for North Georgia at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0, but the Mocs got the point back at No. 5, winning both sets by the same score. Bennett kept the Nighthawks alive by winning at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. FSC clinched the match, however, with a straight set win at No. 3.
Cibeles Zuddy won a three-set thriller at No. 4 singles to clinch the final point for UNG.
The Nighthawks have a quick turnaround as they will take on Augustana tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
