Box Score DAHLONEGA - The home opener was a nice one for the No. 22 University of North Georgia women's tennis team as they defeated Brenau, 8-1, Friday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park. North Georgia improves to 3-0 with the win.
After a sweep of doubles, the singles matches were much closer.
Felicia Baratta put away her opponent with relative ease, followed by
Cibeles Zuddy and
Vaishali Jorge's straight-set wins to clinch the win. Brenau's Valentina Pabon earned the Golden Tigers' lone point.
Adrienne Bofinger and
Holly Bennett both found themselves in early holes, dropping the first set before fighting back to win their respective matches in a third-set tiebreaker.
The Nighthawks have postponed Sunday's match against Lenoir-Rhyne until February 21, so they will next take the court on Saturday, February 17, against Tusculum on the road. First serve is scheduled for noon.
