Box Score DAHLONEGA - With the match tied, 3-3, the University of North Georgia women's tennis team won the final three singles matches to defeat Emmanuel, 6-3, in the season opener Wednesday at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
After dropping the opening doubles match, Lexa Loden and
Christina Bugg pulled out an 8-5 match at No. 3 doubles.
Holly Bennett and
Emma Etelalahti finished off the No. 2 doubles shortly after in a thrilling 8-6 match.
Adrienne Bofinger started up the scoring again for UNG at No. 3 singles, winning her first collegiate singles match, 6-1 and 6-2. The Lions took No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but Loden and
Laura Van Der Hage won at No. 4 and No. 6 shortly after to earn the win.
The match served as the lone fall match that counts toward the overall record. The women will open up the spring schedule on February 3 with a road match at Belmont Abbey.
