DAHLONEGA | In a battle of top-25 teams, the No. 21 University of North Georgia men's tennis team had its five match winning streak snapped with a 6-1 loss to No. 20 Georgia College on Monday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park. The Nighthawks conclude the 2015 regular season 14-4 overall and 6-5 in Peach Belt Conference action.
North Georgia has earned the No. 5 seed at the upcoming PBC Tournament which is set to begin on Friday (April 24) at the Florence (S.C.) Tennis Center.
The Nighthawks' lone point came courtesy of an 8-1 victory at No. 1 singles by
Julian Schoeller and
Philipp Mueller over the 23rd-ranked tandem of Vincent Castermans and Yannick Hass.Â
It was only the second time this season that the Schoeller/Mueller competed in the top doubles line, as they extended their doubles winning streak to 13 matches.
After taking a 2-1 edge into singles, the Bobcats posted straight-set victories in four singles matches to earn the win.
Georgia College improves to 11-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
