Nighthawks Cage Bobcats Behind Second Half Offensive Barrage

Box Score DAHLONEGA | The 19th-ranked University of North Georgia women's soccer team scored three second goals in under two and a half minutes to run away from visiting Georgia College to post a 4-0 win on Saturday afternoon in the team's Peach Belt Conference opener.  Following a scoreless first half, the Nighthawk offense exploded for four goals on 18 shots after intermission.

North Georgia returns to action on Wednesday, September 30 when Young Harris comes to the UNG Soccer Complex for a 5:00 p.m. start.

The first 45:00 featured sound defensive play from both sides, allowing only 11 shots.

Sophia Matonak broke the tie with an unassisted score in the 53rd minute to open the floodgate.  Less than two minutes later Rachel VanHorn scored on a helper from Mollie Arrendale.

Just 47 seconds later Cicely Taliaferro tallied her team-best sixth goal of the year after collecting a throw in and finishing in the left corner.

Jessica Dacey capped the scoring in the 74th minute with her second goal of the year.

Mallory Sayre earned her seventh win of the year in goal after collecting the only shot the Bobcats were able to put on frame.
