VanHorn's Two Goals Pushes #10 Nighthawks Past FIT, 3-0

Box Score MELBOURNE, Florida | Three first half goals allowed the 10th-ranked University of North Georgia women's soccer team to breeze to a 3-0 victory over host Florida Tech on Friday evening in the Marriott Doubletree Panther Invitational.  Freshman Rachel VanHorn found the back of the net twice including the eventual game-winner just three minutes into the contest to lead the Nighthawk offensive charge.

North Georgia moves to 4-0 on the season while the host Panthers fall to 1-2.  The Nighthawks will complete play in the classic-style event on Sunday (Sept. 14) at 11:00 against Barry at FIT's Rick Stottler Field.

UNG was able to secure a pair of insurance goals when Cicely Taliaferro converted a penalty kick in the game's 38th minute before VanHorn scored again just four minutes later.

In goal, UNG's Mallory Sayre gathered all four shots that the Panthers were able to put on frame as she posted her second shutout of the year in between the pipes.
