DAHLONEGA – The No. 7 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's soccer team battled Florida Tech to a scoreless draw Tuesday afternoon at the UNG Soccer Field.
North Georgia controlled the offensive momentum in the opening half, outshooting the Panthers 5-2. The Nighthawks created several opportunities in the attacking third but were unable to find the back of the net.
The second half saw Florida Tech turn the momentum, as the Panthers held a 4-1 advantage in shots.
Aram Lara recorded North Georgia's lone shot on goal in the half.
Florida Tech also put one shot on frame in the second half, but
Aleksa Lukic made the save to keep the Panthers off the scoreboard and preserve the clean sheet.
The Panthers finished with a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks, but the Nighthawks' defense held firm as both teams continued to create chances late in the match.
Despite opportunities on both sides in the closing minutes, neither team could break through, sending the match to a 0-0 draw.
North Georgia returns to action at home Friday, Sept. 4, against No. 24 Palm Beach Atlantic. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the UNG Soccer Field.
