No. 13 North Georgia Rolls Past Bobcats in PBC Sweep

DAHLONEGA – The No. 13 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance Thursday afternoon, sweeping Georgia College 7-0 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Nighthawks secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Anastasiia Opolska and Olesya Stokusova cruised to a 6-1 victory over Rachel Black and Victoria Conde Vendrell at the top spot, while Victoria Niox-Chateau and Sofia Giraldo clinched the point with a 6-4 win at No. 3. The Bobcats' lone doubles victory came at No. 2.

North Georgia carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets.

Victoria Niox-Chateau set the tone with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6, followed by a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory from Stokusova at No. 2. Opolska clinched the team victory at No. 1, defeating Black 6-3, 6-0.

The Nighthawks continued to roll through the lineup, as Emily Bush earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5 and Linn Goerdes picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 4. Giraldo capped the sweep with a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 3, battling through a tightly contested second set.

North Georgia returns to action April 9 when it hosts Lander in its final home match of the regular season.
