No. 7 Nighthawks Sweep Lincoln Memorial 7-0

DAHLONEGA - The No. 7 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance Sunday afternoon, sweeping Lincoln Memorial 7-0 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.

North Georgia controlled the match from the start, securing the doubles point with wins across all three courts before carrying that momentum into singles play to complete the shutout.

The Nighthawks opened the day with a clean sweep in doubles competition. Anastasiia Opolska and Olesya Stokusova set the tone with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Victoria Niox-Chateau and Sofia Giraldo capped the doubles action with a decisive 6-2 result at No. 3 to give the Nighthawks a 1-0 lead. Emily Bush and Linn Goerdes followed with a 6-4 win on court two to sweep doubles competition.

North Georgia continued its strong play in singles, winning all six matches, five of them in straight sets.

Opolska cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles, and Giraldo mirrored the effort with a 6-1, 6-2 win on court two to quickly extend the Nighthawks' advantage. Louise Rey added another point with a 6-4, 6-2 decision at No. 4 singles.

At No. 3 singles, Stokusova secured the clinching momentum in a competitive three-set match, defeating Natalia Reimer 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Niox-Chateau followed with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles.

Bush closed the sweep at No. 6 singles, battling to a 7-6, 6-0 win after edging a tightly contested opening set.

North Georgia returns to action March 2, hosting Carson-Newman at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
