Wright Leads Field After Opening Day, No. 9 Nighthawks Sit Second at LR/Dunes West Women’s Intercollegiate

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Behind a tournament-leading performance from Camryn Wright and a strong unfinished second round, the No. 9 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team sits in second place after day one of the LR/Dunes West Women's Intercollegiate on Monday.

North Georgia posted a two-round total of 575 (+37), with the second round suspended before completion. Play is scheduled to resume Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m., followed immediately by the tournament's final round.

Wright paced the entire field, holding the individual lead after day one with a two-stroke advantage. Competing as an individual, she opened with a 1-over 73 and followed with a 65 in round two before play was halted.

The Nighthawks improved as the day progressed, trimming seven strokes off their opening score. North Georgia shot 310 (+22) in the first round before surging to a collective 15-over pace in round two prior to suspension.

Ellie Jane Riner led the counting lineup early, carding a 2-over 74 in round one and adding a 67 in the second round to move into ninth place individually. Mackenzie Connell also climbed the leaderboard, pairing a 78 with a 68 to sit tied for 12th.

Claire Bradford rebounded from an opening-round 82 with a 66 in round two, while Abby Franks followed a 76 with a 69. Cora Mount delivered an 85 in round one with a 64 during the unfinished second round.

Leigh Allen, also competing individually, recorded rounds of 80 and 67.

With momentum carrying into Tuesday's resumption, the Nighthawks remain firmly in contention entering the final 18 holes of the tournament.
