HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -  The No. 9 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team positioned itself in the top half of the field Monday, sitting in fifth place after two rounds of play at the Battle at Hilton Head, hosted by Lincoln Memorial.

North Georgia opened the tournament with a team score of 309 (+21) in round one, led by Ellie Jane Riner and individual competitor Claire Bradford, who each carded 75 (+3). Abby Franks followed with a 76 (+4), while Cora Mount, Mackenzie Connell and Camryn Wright rounded out the scoring with matching 79s (+7).

The Nighthawks surged in round two before play was suspended due to darkness, posting a 304 (+16) as the round remained unfinished. As it stood Monday night, Mount paced the squad at 63 through 15 holes, while Connell sat at 67 through 16. Franks and Riner were both at 70 through 16, and Wright was at 72 through 16. Competing individually, Bradford was 64 through 15.

Bradford currently sits sixth on the individual leaderboard, while Mount, Franks and Riner are all tied for 19th as North Georgia holds fifth place overall entering Tuesday.

Top-ranked Wingate leads the 19-team field by nine strokes at 13-over. 

The second round will conclude Tuesday morning, followed immediately by the final round.
