COCHRAN, Ga. – The No. 19 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's soccer team scored twice in the opening 21 minutes and added two second-half goals to secure a 4-0 shutout of Middle Georgia on Friday.
Angelina Noorbehesht opened the scoring just 1:04 into the match, finishing a pass from
Nina Lopez for her sixth goal of the season.
Chloe Diaz doubled the Nighthawks' advantage in the 21st minute, scoring her second goal of the year to give North Georgia a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Nighthawks continued to control the match after the break, with
Grace McGill finding the back of the net in the 64th minute for her seventh goal of the season. Madelyn Neff capped the scoring in the 89th minute, recording her team-leading eighth goal of the season to seal the 4-0 victory.
North Georgia's offensive pressure was evident throughout the contest, as the Nighthawks outshot Middle Georgia 25-2, including a 17-2 advantage in shots on goal. North Georgia also held an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
Lopez led the Nighthawks with four shots, putting three on target, while Diaz recorded three shots on goal.
Kayleigh Marreel finished with two saves to help preserve the shutout.
The four-goal performance highlighted a balanced North Georgia attack, with four different Nighthawks finding the back of the net in the decisive victory.
North Georgia continues its three-game road trip with a trip to Milledgeville on Wednesday, Oct. 14, for a PBC matchup against Georgia College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
