DAHLONEGA – The No. 4 University of North Georgia women's tennis team continued its best season in program history thus far with a 6-1 Peach Belt win over Augusta Monday afternoon. For the first time in program history, the Nighthawks are 14-0, marking their best start since the 2019-20 COVID season that was canceled when UNG had gotten off to an 8-0 start.
The Nighthawks cruised to three victories in the doubles matches, winning 6-2 in the #1 doubles, 6-1 in the #2 doubles and 6-0 in the #3 doubles.
In singles play, UNG took five of the six matches as ITA women's singles No. 21
Angelina Linnikova defeated Augusta's Madeline Frediani 7-6 (7-4 tiebreaker), 6-2. The junior from Irkutsk, Russia grabbed her 13th singles win of the season with the victory. Linnikova is now 13-1 in singles matches this year.

Ashley Moinard won her #4 singles match 6-4, 6-4 over Prscilla Landi, making her 11-2 now on the year and second on the team in singles wins.
With a 6-1, 6-2 win in the #3 singles spot from senior Johann Lippert, she moved herself into double digit singles win this season with her 10th victory. Lipper is now 10-3 in singles play with an unfinished match in which she held match point and 11-2 in doubles contests with one unfinished match.
A daunting task awaits UNG now as the Nighthawks will play three matches over the next six days, two of which are against ranked opponents.
It all starts tomorrow, Tuesday, Apr. 2 at 12 p.m. with a neutral site showdown with No. 7 West Alabama.
Following the match with the Tigers, UNG has a pair of PBC opponents on the docket this weekend in No. 8 Flagler on the road on Saturday, Apr. 6 before facing Georgia Southwestern back home at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek on Sunday, Apr. 7.
