CHATTANOOGA — The No. 8 University of North Georgia women's tennis team took down NAIA No. 4 Tennessee Wesleyan in its first match of the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase on Sunday.

The Nighthawks grabbed a pair of wins in the doubles portion to earn the doubles point which aided in the path to a 7-0 victory.

The senior combination of Viktorie Wojcikova and Johanna Lippert took a 6-3 win in the #1 doubles match. The pair are now 7-1 in doubles matches this season.

The other Nighthawk doubles win came from senior Valentina Ascarrunz and junior Carolina Reis. The Nighthawk duo has been dominant this season having not lost a match in seven tries this year. They picked up a 6-3 win on Saturday to secure the doubles point.

No. 7 ranked singles player Angelina Linnikova earned her seventh singles win of the year with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Bulldog sophomore Olivia Alcala.

Ascarrunz won her match against freshman Ivet Prat to remain undefeated in 15 matches this year (seven doubles matches, eight singles matches).

Now UNG gets ready to face Drury in its second competition of the Scenic City Showcase on Monday, Mar. 11 at 11 a.m.
