DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia (UNG) men's soccer team finished its Wednesday night matchup with USC Aiken in a scoreless draw. UNG moves to 6-4-2 on the year with the tie while holding a 4-2-1 record in the Peach Belt Conference.
Despite a performance in which the Nighthawks dominated in time of possession, UNG was unable to break through on the score sheet.
Both teams were even with 14 shots each but UNG tallied six shots on target while the Pacers only mustered four shots on frame.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Aleksa Lukic came up big for the Nighthawks with four saves in the game including three in the first half. His performance marks the sixth time this year the keeper has recorded four or more saves in a contest. His 42 saves this season are tied for the most among any goalie in the PBC.
Despite being unable to come out with a win, the shutout over Aiken signifies UNG's first instance this season in which it held an opponent scoreless.
Now the Nighthawks will get ready for a big matchup with Flagler on Saturday, Oct. 19 from the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park. UNG defeated Flagler 2-1 back on Sep. 29. Kick off on Saturday is set for 1 p.m.
