DAHLONEGA – Two wins for the No. 2 University of North Georgia softball team gave head coach
Mike Davenport his 1,000th career victory in their doubleheader sweep against Barry (14-10) on Monday afternoon at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park. The Nighthawks showed their strength inside the circle, taking down the Buccaneers 2-1 in the first game and 3-2 in the second.

The Nighthawks used three different pitchers in the win with
Sophie Mooney starting with 4 and one third innings while allowing no runs on just one hit.
Delaney Heaberlin (7-0) came in relief, allowing one run on two hits in two innings of work before
Kristen Davis closed the game finishing off the last two batters to earn the save.
The Nighthawk bats were quiet, struggling to plate runs against one of the top pitching staffs in NCAA Division II. The top of the lineup made much of the noise, with the top three batters in the lineup accounting for all four hits.
Jolie Lester and
Madi Perry recorded a hit while Mooney added run support for herself at the plate, leading the team in hits and driving in a run.
