MEN'S BASKETBALL

For the first time in program history, the Nighthawks will head to the NCAA Tournament to face UNC Pembroke (26-3) in a matchup between former Peach Belt Conference foes.

UNG will play in the 2023 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional as the No. 7 seed and playing on Saturday (Mar. 11) against the second-seeded Braves.

UNC Pembroke won the Conference of Carolinas regular season title but was upset in the conference tournament by Belmont Abbey. It will be the 25th meeting all-time, the first in the NCAA Tournament, and the Braves hold a four-game lead in the series. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

North Georgia will head to Salisbury, North Carolina, to participate in the 2023 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional as the No. 7 seed, making their sixth straight NCAA tournament appearance.

The Nighthawks (19-10) will take on second-seeded Wingate (22-7) in the opening round Friday in a rematch of a Dec. 19 67-61 UNG victory in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Bulldogs fell in the SAC semifinals against Anderson but finished second in the league behind the top seed and host of the regional, Catawba.

Baseball (8-8)

Another series win for the Nighthawks leads them into a busy week, with UNG playing fives games, beginning with a matchup with Southern Wesleyan on Tuesday and another midweek game against Catawba on Wednesday. Both midweek games will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Following the games during the week, the Nighthawks open up their weekend with a three-game series against last year's Peach Belt Conference regular-season champion, Columbus State (14-3, 8-1).

#9/11 Tennis

The Nighthawks defeated Belmont Abbey in their dual meet on Saturday (Mar. 5). The No. 9 women took down the Crusaders 6-1 while the No. 11 men rolled to a 4-0 win.

Both squads will head to Alabama for two matches on Saturday (Mar. 11) and Sunday (Mar. 12) against Auburn Montgomery in the Saturday match and Spring Hill in the Sunday match. 

#2 Softball (20-1, 6-0 PBC)

A busy week awaits with seven games on the docket, beginning with a doubleheader against Barry (14-8, 5-4). North Georgia and Barry feature some of the best pitching in NCAA Division II, with both sides ranking atop DII in shutouts this season.

Following the doubleheader on Monday, the Nighthawks will face Christian Brothers (3-9, 0-6) to round out the midweek events, playing two games on Tuesday afternoon.

North Georgia will then face Augusta (12-10, 0-6) for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series, heading on the road for the first time in PBC play.
