DAHLONEGA - University of North Georgia Department of Athletics raised over $130,000 in donations from over 700 donors in its 4
th Annual Day of Giving on Tuesday, Nov. 18. This year marked the most funds ever raised by the department's annual initiative. Nighthawk Athletics has raised $430,000 in the four years of the Day of Giving initiative.
The women's golf team led the way in both number of donors with 126, and total funds raised by raising $21,300. The over 700 donors for the department came from 33 states and eight countries. There was also a total of 393 new donors for the year.
Each of North Georgia's 13 athletics programs and department support units will benefit from the funds raised through the Day of Giving campaign. Student-athletes and coaches spent the day promoting the initiative on their social media channels, calling on family and friends from home and challenging one another to hit goals as a department.
The far and wide engagement from the UNG Athletics Day of Giving has further displayed a commitment to the continuation of North Georgia Athletics as an elite Division II program.
