Ananthasane Highlights UNG's Fifth Place Finish at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The University of North Georgia women's golf team wrapped up at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate with a fifth-place finish highlighted by Maddie Ananthasane earning third place after shooting a 74 in the second round and a 73 in the third to finish with a two-over-par 216. The Nighthawks as a team finished with a total team score of 929, finishing ahead of seven of the eight NCAA Division I teams in the event, with Austin Peay taking the team title.

Amari Smith raced up the leaderboard on the final day, finishing second for the Nighthawks, climbing 18 spots after carding a 74 in the third round. Ananthasane and Smith found success on a challenging day for the field, with Ananthasane's 73 and Smith's 74 ranking as two of the best scores in the field.

Ellie Rippee (+26) finished third for North Georgia, shooting an 83 on the third day. Danielle Humphrey (+31) rounded out the scoring Nighthawks, finishing in a tie for 54th after an 81 in the final round.

The 15-team field featured teams from both NCAA Division I and II with host Tennessee Tech, as well as Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Carson-Newman, Dalton State, Dayton, Findlay, Indiana State, North Alabama, North Georgia, Oklahoma City, Radford, Tennessee State, Tusculum, and UNI all playing in the event.

The Nighthawks will take a two-week break before playing in the Lander Bearcat Spring Invitational in Greenwood, S.C., on Mar. 27-28.
