MONROE, N.C. - The No. 7 University of North Georgia women's golf team wrapped up play Tuesday at the Jerry Surratt Memorial, hosted by Wingate, finishing ninth overall with a 54-hole team score of 902.
The Nighthawks closed the tournament with their strongest round of the event, carding a 9-over 297 in the final round after opening with scores of 302 and 303 on Monday.
Mackenzie Connell led North Georgia and finished inside the top 25 individually with a three-round total of 222 (76-73-73). Connell fired a 1-over 73 in the final round, matching her second-round score to lead the Nighthawks.
Camryn Wright finished second for UNG at 226 (74-78-74) after posting a 2-over 74 on Tuesday. Abby Franks followed with a 229 (74-80-75), including a 3-over 75 in the final round.
Ellie Jane Riner continued her steady improvement across the tournament, closing with a 3-over 75 to finish at 231 (79-77-75). Cora Mount rounded out the lineup with a 233 (78-75-80) after shooting 80 (+8) in the final round.
North Georgia's 297 in round three marked the team's lowest score of the tournament as the Nighthawks improved their position on the leaderboard on the final day.
North Georgia returns to action March 30-31 at the Grand Harbor Classic hosted by Anderson.
