MONROE, N.C. - The No. 7 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team sits in ninth place after the opening two rounds of the Jerry Surratt Memorial Intercollegiate, hosted by No. 1 Wingate, on Monday.

The Nighthawks opened the tournament with a 14-over 302 in the first round before posting a 15-over 303 in the afternoon round to close day one.

Abby Franks and Camryn Wright paced North Georgia in the opening round with matching 2-over 74s. Mackenzie Connell followed with a 4-over 76, while Cora Mount carded a 78 and Ellie Jane Riner finished with a 79.

Connell led the Nighthawks in the second round, firing a 1-over 73 to post the team's lowest score of the day. Mount added a 3-over 75, while Riner shot a 77. Wright recorded a 78 and Franks rounded out the scoring with an 80.

The tournament concludes with the third and final round Tuesday at Stonebridge GC.
