AUGUSTA, Ga. – In the first game of the three-game series against Augusta, the No. 2 University of North Georgia softball team defeated Augusta (13-12, 0-7 PBC) 11-5, scoring nine straight runs after the Jaguars took a 1-0 lead.
Jolie Lester was a catalyst at the plate, earning three hits in five trips and driving in three runs.
Gracie Mixson led the team in RBIs with only one hit, breaking the game open in the third with a grand slam.
Mariah Wicker finished with two RBIs, while
Sophie Mooney and
Georgia Blair added runs to the cause, each driving in one run.
Kristen Davis (7-1) picked up her seventh win of the season, allowing five runs on five hits while striking out six. Davis held firm for the majority of the game but got into trouble in the sixth when Augusta hit a grand slam of their own to avoid the run-rule finish.
