DAHLONEGA – On an odd night and while facing unique scheduling challenges, the No. 21 University of North Georgia men's basketball team met the challenge in its 85-79 defeat of Clayton State (2-20, 0-12) in a Peach Belt Conference makeup game. Frank Champion grabbed his 500th career rebound while on his way to a 22-point and six-rebound night, finishing first on the team in scoring.

AJ White finished with 21 points, helping to shoulder the offensive load by adding seven assists. Greg Billups, Jr. rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points and finished tied for first on the team in rebounds (6).

The Nighthawks move to 16-4 overall and 9-3 in PBC play with the win and sit one game back in the PBC standings. The Monday night game is a makeup of the Nighthawks' previously scheduled game against the Lakers on Jan. 11. Key Moments
  • North Georgia came out of the gates slowly, allowing the Lakers to gain pace on the offensive end. UNG kept up and woud go on their first run of the game to end the first half and take a six-point lead into the break.
  • The Nighthawks could not build upon its lead. but found its rhythm from beyond the arc, making six of their 11 attempts. The three-point shooting effort helped get UNG across the finish line and secure the six-point victory.
