MORROW, Ga. – For the second time in three days, the No. 24 University of North Georgia men's basketball team defeated Clayton State, using a high-paced offensive attack in the second half to down the Lakers 89-71.
Frank Champion scored his 1,000th career point on his way to a team-high 18 points.
A total of six Nighthawks finished in double-digit scoring, with
Giancarlo Bastianoni and
Cayden Charles tied for second on the team in scoring with 13 points.
Greg Billups, Jr. (12),
AJ White (11) and
Hunter Shedenhelm (10) all finished with double-digits for UNG.
Bastianoni finished with his first double-double of the season, leading the team in rebounds with 10 to go along with his 13 points making all six of his attempts from the field. The Nighthawks move to 17-4 on the season and 10-3 in the Peach Belt Conference.

The Nighthawks look to avenge one of their three losses in Peach Belt Conference play when they host Lander (17-6, 9-4) on Saturday (Feb. 11) for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off against the Bearcats. Lander is coming off an 81-63 win over Augusta. The Bearcats defeated UNG 76-75 in their first matchup this season.
