DAHLONEGA – University of North Georgia (UNG) head men's basketball coach Dan Evans has announced the addition of Blake Stinson to the Nighthawks coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Stinson arrives in Dahlonega after spending the last seven seasons at University of Virginia's College at Wise, where he served in multiple roles on the Cavaliers' staff. Most recently, he was the associate head coach from 2024-26 after serving as an assistant coach from 2021-24 and special assistant to the head coach in 2019.

"Blake represents the values we think represent our program best," said Evans. "He values relationships, fosters a family environment and will compete every day to achieve at his highest level. Having known him for several years, it was a no-brainer to pursue him to join our program. Our players, staff and university will be better off through his presence and contributions to North Georgia Basketball. We are excited to welcome Blake, Kiana, Sutton and Saint to our family."

In his new role with the Nighthawks, Stinson will assist with recruiting, player development, scouting and game preparation as North Georgia builds toward the upcoming season.

"Blake will hit the ground running here in Dahlonega," Evans added. "Recruiting, building relationships over the summer with our players, and helping lay the foundation for the 2026-27 season and beyond. He will have a hand in developing players on the floor, game planning, and film study. His basketball acumen and ability to connect with people is only outpaced by the quality of person he is. Blake is top-notch and a welcomed addition to the staff."

A native of Honaker, Virginia, Stinson was a standout multi-sport athlete at Honaker High School. He earned First Team All-State honors in baseball during both his junior and senior seasons and set the VHSL career assist record as well as the single-season assist mark in basketball.

Stinson joins a North Georgia program coming off another successful season and will begin his duties immediately.
