DAHLONEGA – A pair of complete game shutouts by
Kristen Davis (3-1) and
Tybee Denton (5-0) led to a doubleheader sweep in the 7-0 and 8-0 win for the No. 3 University of North Georgia softball team against USC Beaufort (5-6, 0-2) in their Peach Belt Conference opening series.

Davis began the day by throwing a seven-inning no-hitter striking out ten batters on her way through the lineup. It was the first no-hitter of Davis's collegiate career and the fifth complete-game shutout as a Nighthawk.
The offense rolled early, scoring four runs in the first inning by taking advantage of a few defensive misplays.
Madi Perry had three hits in three at-bats, earning one walk and one RBI.
Sophie Mooney also added three hits, with Perry and Mooney combining for six of UNG's nine hits in the second and third spots in the order.
Hannah Forehand anchored the cleanup spot for North Georgia driving in Mooney and Perry for two RBIs on two hits.

Denton picked up where Davis left off in the circle, throwing five innings and striking out seven on two hits. Denton did not allow a hit for the first 4 2/3 innings. The offense had a similar effort in the second game, opening up with five runs in the first to give Denton a cushion and the lead.
Georgia Blair led the team at the plate, driving in two RBIs on two hits in two trips to the plate.
Sydney Blair found herself in the right spot, scoring two runs in the game. UNG dug deep into the dugout, with 18 different Nighthawks taking the field throughout the game.

North Georgia will look for a series sweep on Sunday (Feb. 25) for a noon first pitch in the third and final game of the series.
