STATESBORO, Ga. – In a high-profile matchup to end the regular season, the No. 18 University of North Georgia mixed rifle team fell 4636-4650 to No. 16 Georgia Southern in their Southern Conference matchup.
Elysa Walter finished second overall and first for North Georgia, finishing behind one of the top shooters in the NCAA by two points. Walter's 1179 is the program record, breaking the record she tied in their previous match against The Citadel.
Walter adds the aggregate and air rifle record to her name after finishing with an air rifle score of 596 to break Dakota Spivey's record of 594 set on Oct. 22, 2016.
Maya Cameron who broke the aggregate scoring record earlier this season, finished second for the Nighthawks and fourth overall, finishing with an 1158 aggregate after posting a 578 in air rifle and a 580 in smallbore.
Dawson Kissik finished eighth overall with an aggregate score of 1148.
Alyssa Kiser (1146) and
Jaden-Ann Fraser (1140) rounded out the top 10 finishers in the event and the top five for UNG.
