DAHLONEGA – A 7-1 deficit began the day for the No. 5 University of North Georgia softball team before the Nighthawks rallied back in their 10-7 victory over Florida Southern. Following the 10-7 victory, North Georgia stormed back against King in a 13-0 victory over the Tornado to round out play at the Captain D's Surf & Turf Classic at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park.
North Georgia 10, Florida Southern 7
A couple of errors in the first inning against FSC led to a five-run inning for the Mocs to open up the game. Following the second inning 7-1 deficit, the Nighthawks scored 22 unanswered runs combined in their two wins over Florida Southern and King.
Against Florida Southern,
Delaney Heaberlin (1-0) came in for relief, allowing two runs on seven hits in 6 and one third innings of work out of the bullpen earning the win.
Madi Perry was the catalyst for the comeback finishing the game with four hits, reaching base in every at bat, and driving in three critical runs for UNG. North Georgia did their damage in the sixth inning mounting the comeback by scoring six runs in the inning to take a 9-7 lead.
North Georgia 13, King 0 (5)
In the day's final game against King, it was all Nighthawks from the first pitch, with UNG putting up four runs in the top of the 1st.
Sophie Mooney (2-0) would strike out five in 4 1/3 inning of action, allowing no runs on three hits.
Olivia Sinquefield was a shining star in the game finishing with four hits in four at-bats and racking up six RBIs.
Sydney Blair added three RBIs to her totals in the game, using two hits in three trips to the plate.
The Nighthawks move to 6-1 on the season with their fifth straight win.

North Georgia will host UNC Pembroke for a Saturday doubleheader before meeting Lake Erie for the first time in program history for a doubleheader on Sunday. UNC Pembroke is 2-1 on the season, and Lake Erie will begin their season with a doubleheader versus Young Harris on Saturday.
