DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia women's soccer team tied Lander 1-1 in their midweek Peach Belt Conference matchup on Wednesday evening at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park.
Lander scored first in the 37th minute by a header from Romie Llewellyn. The Bearcats controlled the first half keeping North Georgia off the ball for most of the half.
The Nighthawks made second-half adjustments and began to create opportunities throughout the second half. A 49th-minute goal from
Skylar Abbott off an assist from
Maysoon El-Shami was the equalizer for North Georgia.
Both teams had their chances down the stretch, but both defenses survived two aggressive attacks. The Nighthawks move to 6-2-2 and 3-1-1 in PBC play and currently sits in a tie for third place.
