DAHLONEGA – Amari Smith has been named the Women's Golfer of the Week by the Peach Belt Conference. Smith made her Nighthawk debut at the Dallas Baptist Women's Classic, shooting rounds of 75-71-69 to finish at one-under 215.
The graduate student from McKinney, Texas, finished in a tie for 12th in the 85-player field. The tournament featured 15 teams ranked or receiving votes in the WGCA Top 25.
Smith's final-round 69 was the fourth-lowest round of the tournament with four birdies and an eagle; she played the back nine in her final round at four-under 32, moving up 14 spots on the leaderboard on the last day. Smith leads the Peach Belt with a 71.67 stroke average.
Smith becomes the third UNG athlete this year to win a Peach Belt Conference weekly award in their debut for the Nighthawks and the fifth overall.
