DALLAS, Texas – The University of North Georgia women's golf team posted a six-over par 294 second round to finish the first day of the DBU Women's Classic in 13th place.
Ellie Rippee (73-72--145, t17th) leads UNG after the first two rounds, found her swing on the back-nine of round carding two birdies and no bogeys.
The Nighthawks shot a 298 (+10) in the opening round before finding their footing and finishing the day with a 294 (+6) in the second round. Amari Smith (75-71--146, t26th) sits just one stroke behind Rippee. Maddie Ananthasane (72-75--147, t31st) rounds out the top three Nighthawks.
Lynn leads the field at six-under par (570) and Maria Hoyos is in first overall with an 11-under par (133) scorecard.
Ten of the top 25 teams from the WGCA Coaches Preseason Poll are competing in the two-day event including No. 3 Anderson, No. 4 Lynn, No. 6 Barry, No. 11 Indianapolis, No. 12 University of Tampa, No. 13 Henderson State, No. 14 St. Leo, No. 23 Missouri-St. Louis and No. 25 St. Mary's.
The third and final round of the DBU Classic will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
