CLEVELAND, Ohio - The University of North Georgia had 53 student-athletes that were named recipients of the 2021-22 Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award.
Women's soccer led UNG with 11 honorees, followed closely behind by the track and field team with eight. Cross country and men's soccer had six, baseball and women's basketball rounded out the top five with five each. men's golf (4), women's tennis (2), softball (2),women's golf (1), men's tennis (1) and men's basketball (1) mixed rifle (1) accounted for the remaining honorees.
The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the NCAA Division II level. In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution must be a current dues-paying member of the D2 ADA. Also, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
