COLUMBUS, Ga. - The No. 8 University of North Georgia women's tennis team fell in the Peach Belt semifinals Saturday afternoon to No. 11 Flagler, 4-3.
Flagler took the doubles point, winning 6-0 and 6-3 on the top two lines, respectively.
Cibeles Zuddy got the Nighthawks on the board in singles play, though, tying the match at 1-1 with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
After the Saints took the top and fourth lines to stretch their lead to 3-1, North Georgia battled back to tie the match up.
Johanna Lippert took a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 before Claudelle Labonte Frey won in three sets at No. 5, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0. It came down to the third line where the Saints won in straight sets to advance to the championship match.
North Georgia will now wait to see if they receive an at-large bid into the Southeast Regional. The Nighthawks were ranked No. 4 in the latest regional rankings with the top seven advancing into the postseason.
