DAHLONEGA - The No. 19 University of North Georgia softball team pulled out a pair of wins over Lincoln Memorial Tuesday to snap their losing skid.
GAME 1 - UNG 2, LMU 1
The Nighthawks got going quickly, plating a run in the first. After an
Olivia Sinquefield single and a wild pitch,
Madison Simmons doubled in the gap in right center to take an early 1-0 lead. The Railsplitters tied it up in the third with a leadoff homer over the wall in left.
North Georgia retook the lead in the fifth off a Sinquefield single that plated
Mallory Parker, pushing the lead to 2-1. UNG held on over the final six outs to claim the win.
Delaney Heaberlin (12-7) earned the win, going the distance and striking out two while walking one and surrendering four hits.
GAME 2 - UNG 3, LMU 1
North Georgia again got out in front first as Sinquefield scored from second on a fielder's choice in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Nighthawks added a pair in the fourth on a RBI single from
Georgia Blair and a Parker double down the line in left, stretching the lead to 3-0.
LMU scored on a RBI single in the fifth, but
Jordan Warzynski came in and kept the lead at 3-1, earning the save.
Kristen Davis (12-4) got the win, going four innings and fanning three. Warzynski added two strikeouts over the final three innings.
NOTES
- North Georgia is now 20-0 at home this season and has the third longest home winning streak in the country at 22 games.
- Parker went 4-for-6 at the plate in the twinbill out of the leadoff spot in the lineup.
