DAHLONEGA - The No. 7 University of North Georgia women's tennis team fell Friday afternoon at the hands of No. 11 Flagler, 4-3.
North Georgia took an early advantage in doubles play, capturing the third line quickly as
Anna Markvartova and
Cibeles Zuddy took care of business with a 6-2 win. The Saints responded, taking down the last two matches, however, to claim the early 1-0 lead.
Flagler wasted no time getting out to a 3-0 lead, winning on the first and third lines rather quickly before Zuddy got UNG on the board with a 6-1, 6-3 win on the sixth line.
Johanna Lippert cut further into the Saint lead with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 2, but the Saints took the fourth singles match in straight sets to earn the win.
Claudelle Labonté Frey won the final match on the fifth line, 6-1, 7-6 (3).
North Georgia will turn around quickly as they will battle No. 6 Columbus State Sunday on the road.
