No. 16 Softball Sweeps No. 23 UAH

DAHLONEGA - The No. 16 University of North Georgia softball team earned a non-conference sweep of No. 23 Alabama Huntsville Wednesday.

GAME 1 - UNG 7, UAH 2
North Georgia wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, scoring in the first inning on a Haley Cummings double to take a 1-0 lead. UNG doubled its lead just one inning later off a Jolie Lester RBI single before blowing the game open in the fourth.

After an Olivia Sinquefield RBI single that pushed the lead to 3-0, Cummings hit a grand slam over the wall in left center to take a 7-0 lead. UAH scored a pair in the sixth off a RBI double, but the Nighthawks shut it down to earn the win.

Kristen Davis (4-1) earned the complete game win, fanning seven along the way.

GAME 2 - UNG 5, UAH 3
North Georgia scored first again, scoring three in the third on a RBI single from Madison Simmons and some savvy base running. After a Jolie Lester homer to center field in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead, the Chargers scratched the scoreboard in the sixth on a RBI single.

Gracie Mixson got the run back for North Georgia in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly, but UAH didn't go quietly, scoring two on a triple in the seventh to bring the tying run to the plate.

Delaney Heaberlin (6-5) got the win, scattering five hits and five walks across the seven innings.

NOTES
- Cummings went 3-for-7 in the twinbill, while Sinquefield went 3-for-6 at the plate.
