DAHLONEGA - The No. 16 University of North Georgia softball team took both ends of Sunday's doubleheader against Augusta at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park.

GAME 1 - UNG 5, AU 3
North Georgia got things started in the bottom of the first, scoring on a RBI groundout to take the early 1-0 lead. It took until the fourth inning for UNG to get back on the board as the Nighthawks scored on a wild pitch to double the lead.

Augusta scored in the fifth on a solo homer, but North Georgia responded in the bottom of the frame, scoring two on a Hannah Forehand single down the line in left. UNG scored again in the sixth on a dropped third strike and then held off a late rally from the Jaguars in the seventh to secure the win.

Kristen Davis (4-1) went 6.1 innings to earn the win, while Delaney Heaberlin got her first save of the season, wrapping up the seventh inning.

GAME 2 - UNG 9, AU 1 (5 inn.)
Augusta got on the board first in the second game, using good base running to plate a run in the top half of the first, but North Georgia would score the final nine runs of the game, starting with three in the bottom of the first. Haley Cummings tied the game with a RBI single to left center before UNG scored on a bases loaded hit by pitch and a Mallory Parker sacrifice fly to take a 3-1 lead.

North Georgia would score six in the fifth off a RBI single from Forehand, RBI doubles from Parker and Georgia Blair and a walkoff RBI single from Olivia Sinquefield.

Heaberlin (7-5) got the win, fanning five across the five innings.
