No. 12 Softball Run Rules Young Harris Twice Saturday

DAHLONEGA - The No. 12 University of North Georgia softball team opened up the Peach Belt series against Young Harris with a pair of run rule wins Saturday afternoon.

GAME 1 - UNG 12, YHC 4 (5 inn.)
The Nighthawks started by loading up the bases in the first and plating a pair off a Hannah Forehand single and a hit by pitch. UNG went on to six in the second off RBI singles from Haley Cummings and Gracie Mixson, RBI doubles by Forehand and Mallory Parker and a Mountain Lion error to take an 8-0 lead.

YHC answered in the top of the third, plating four runs to cut the lead in half, but the Nighthawks responded immediately in the bottom of the third, using a Forehand triple and a Mixson single to stretch the lead back out to 10-4. North Georgia scored on a RBI groundout in the fourth before Marley Holmes walked off the game in the fifth with a RBI single.

Delaney Heaberlin (11-6) got the win, fanning one while allowing just one earned run.
