COLUMBUS, Ga. - The No. 4 University of North Georgia women's tennis team took a 6-1 win over Southern Arkansas Tuesday afternoon at Columbus State University.
North Georgia got things started quickly with a 6-2 win on the top doubles line from
Vaishali Jorge and
Johanna Lippert, but SAU took a win on the third line shortly after, forcing the deciding match at No. 2 which
Anna Markvartova and
Cibeles Zuddy won, 6-4, to claim the doubles point.
Markvartova kept the momentum going in singles play, winning quickly on the second line, 6-1, 6-3. Lippert finished at No. 3 quickly after, winning 6-2, 6-2, before Jorge clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-1 win on the top line.
The Nighthawks also got wins from Rafaella Villanueva on the sixth line, 7-5, 6-4, and Claudelle Labonte Frey on the fourth, 6-2, 6-4.
UNG will be back in action Friday at Tusculum. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
