MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The No. 12 University of North Georgia softball team dropped both ends of a Tuesday doubleheader at No. 17 Auburn Montgomery.
GAME 1 - AUM 12, UNG 3 (5 inn.)
The Warhawks wasted no time putting up a big number in the bottom of the first, scoring on two RBI singles and a UNG error to take a 4-0 lead. AUM extended their lead to 6-0 in the second on a two run homer before North Georgia got on the board in the third.
Madison Simmons got the first run of the game for the Nighthawks on a RBI triple and was brought home on a
Haley Cummings RBI single that cut the lead to 6-2.
AUM answered in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs in the inning off two RBI singles, a three run homer and a wild pitch. North Georgia scored again in the fourth on a Warhawk error to get to the final score.
GAME 2 - AUM 3, UNG 0
AUM scored in the bottom of the first inning again, this time with a pair of runs off a RBI triple. The Warhawks scored again in the fourth on a bases loaded RBI groundout.
North Georgia broke up the perfect game in the fifth, getting a couple of base runners on board, but could not push a runner across.
NOTES
- North Georgia has lost each of the last four meetings with AUM.
