DAHLONEGA - The No. 16 University of North Georgia softball team completed the Peach Belt Conference sweep of Augusta Monday afternoon with a 9-2 win.
Augusta scratched the scoreboard first for the second straight game, plating a run on a RBI single in the third inning, but North Georgia answered in the bottom of the fourth, scoring a pair on a
Gracie Mixson RBI double and another on a dropped third strike coupled with a Jaguar error.
The lead was extended by UNG in the fifth when
Jolie Lester hit a leadoff moon shot to center field to give the Nighthawks a 4-1 lead, but the Jags responded, scoring on a sacrifice fly in the sixth to trim the lead to 4-2. North Georgia plated five insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth off a
Mallory Parker RBI double, a
Madi Perry RBI single and a three run blast from
Madison Simmons to get to the final score.
NOTES
- North Georgia has now won 19 straight games against Augusta and has extended their home record against the Jags to 28-0.

Kristen Davis (6-1) earned the win, going five innings and fanning four, while
Delaney Heaberlin earned her second save of the season by closing out the final two frames.
