DESTIN, Fla. - Maddie Ananthasane and
Jadin Ware each find themselves in the top 20 as the University of North Georgia women's golf team sits in a tie for 12th after the opening round of the Emerald Coast Classic Sunday.
Ananthasane sits in an eight way tie for sixth place at 2-over 73. She converted two birdies over the final five holes of the day to climb up the leaderboard into the top 10. Ware, playing as an individual, is two shots back in a tie for 18th place after going 1-under on her final nine holes of the day.
The Nighthawks are tied with Central Oklahoma at 36-over for the event, just eight shots outside of the top 10. Nova Southeastern leads the tournament at 6-over, six shots ahead of Anderson. Henderson State, Lee and Central Missouri round out the top five.
North Georgia will be back on the course tomorrow morning for the second round starting at 8 a.m.
