AUGUSTA, Ga. - The No. 13 University of North Georgia men's tennis team started their Peach Belt Conference season with a 6-1 win over No. 19 Augusta Sunday afternoon.
North Georgia breezed through doubles, taking 6-1 wins on the first and third lines. The momentum carried over into singles as
Giulio Sassi captured UNG's second point with a quick 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6.
Shortly after Sassi's win,
Ryan Gaskin took a 6-3, 6-0 win on the second line to open the door for
Joaquin Benoit to clinch the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win on the top line.
Cole Brainard and
Daniel Ostap also earned straight set wins in singles action.
North Georgia will take on Lander at home Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. to continue PBC play.
