DAHLONEGA - The No. 9 University of North Georgia men's tennis team got the best of No. 13 Lander, taking down the Bearcats 5-2 Saturday afternoon.
The Nighthawks won the doubles point with
Cole Brainard and
Daniel Ostap winning on the second line, 6-0, before
Joaquin Benoit and
Ryan Gaskin took the top line by a 6-2 score.
North Georgia clinched the match by winning four of the six singles matches, starting with Gaskin's 6-1, 6-0 win on the second line. Benoit won on at No. 1, 6-2, 6-4; Ostap took down the fourth line, 6-3, 6-2; and Brainard won his match at No. 5, 6-3, 7-5.
UNG will take on Southern Arkansas on Tuesday at Columbus State. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
