ALBANY, Ga. - The No. 10 University of North Georgia men's golf team set a new 18-hole scoring record in the second round of the GSW Hurricane Invitational as they climbed into a tie for second place Monday after 36 holes.
The Nighthawks shot the best second round at 11-under 277, besting the program record of 10-under from the Queens Invitational this past fall. UNG shot 5-under in the 36 holes played so far.
All five Nighthawks are in the top 40, led by
Noah Zediker at 4-under, tied for fourth. He sits two shots back of the individual lead.
Stephen Kinsel is two shots back of Zediker in a tie for eighth, while Evan Thompon is tied for 16th at even par.
Ethan Day is tied for 22nd at 1-over and
Grant Crowell is tied for 35th.
North Georgia is one shot off the pace of Carson-Newman and tied with host Georgia Southwestern after 36 holes. Columbus State is one shot back of the Nighthawks and 'Canes, while Belmont Abbey at 1-over is in fifth.
The Nighthawks will be in the lead group tomorrow morning when play starts at 8 a.m.
