AUGUSTA, Ga. - The No. 18 University of North Georgia women's tennis team opened Peach Belt Conference play with a 4-2 win over Augusta Wednesday afternoon.
North Georgia took the doubles point as
Anna Markvartova and
Svetlana Teterina took a 6-1 win on the third line, followed closely behind by
Vaishali Jorge and Claudelle Labonté Frey on the top line with a 6-3 win.
Despite losing the top two lines in singles play, North Georgia got a 7-5, 6-3 win from
Johanna Lippert, a 6-1, 6-2 win from Teterina and a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win from Labonté Frey to capture the win.
North Georgia will take on Queens on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
