VALDOSTA, Ga. - The No. 18 University of North Georgia women's tennis team came from behind to take down Valdosta State, 4-3, Friday afternoon.
VSU took the doubles point in a tiebreak after the Blazers took the top line while
Svetlana Teterina and
Johanna Lippert won the second line, 6-4. The match came down to the third line that VSU won 7-6 (1).
Lippert tied the match up at 1-1 with a win on the third singles line, winning 6-2, 6-1, but VSU retook the lead with a straight set win at No. 4.
Anna Markvartova again tied the match up at 2-2 when she won 6-3, 6-4 on the second line, but again the Blazers pushed in front with a win on the top line in three sets.
Claudelle Labonté Frey tied the match up at 3-3 with a 6-2, 7-6 (2) win on the sixth line, setting up Rafaella Villanueva to take the win at No. 5, 7-6 (5), 6-2.
North Georgia will be back in action tomorrow against Nova Southeastern at Valdosta State.
