First Half Surge Leads Men's Basketball to Double Digit Win

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Frank Champion tallied a double-double, his second of the season, with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the University of North Georgia men's basketball to a 76-58 win over Erskine on the final day of the Peach Belt/Conference Carolinas Challenge hosted by North Greenville. North Georgia scored six straight points to open the game and jumped out to a 20-point lead in the first half to spark their 18-point victory.

Giancarlo Bastianoni was second on the team in scoring with 17 points off the bench. Sutton Smith contributed in rebounds with nine. Key Moments
  • North Georgia shot 62% from the field in the first half, while Erskine shot just 27% from the field.
  • Bastianoni scored 17 points in just 20 minutes of action.
  • The Nighthawks got to the line 16 times in the second half, making ten free throws to secure the victory.

  • Erskine's Aisaiah Phillips and Jerome Stephens were the only Flying Fleet to reach double figures in scoring with 18 and 12 respectively. 
  • For the second consecutive night, the Nighthawks held a commanding edge on the glass, outrebounding Erskine 26 (49-23).

North Georgia (2-0) will face Southern Wesleyan (0-1) on the road on Wednesday (Nov. 16). Southern Wesleyan fell to Flagler in their season opener.
